Hey guys! Sorry for the delay with this post.

Here is the reference that we discussed during last class. I've included some notes. Overall I'd like to see ideas for:

Our obese ruler/king/queen/etc with slaves
Slaves
Antag: Our half breed/messiah abomination child
Protag: The leader of the resistance
The resistance

Please bring in 2 pages (3 sketches on each page) of ideas. You can do one or two of each. Minimun is 6 sketches. Sketches that you would show an art director.

If you guys have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Mid-Term Project Part 1: Handicapped Villain

So for the first part of the mid-term project I'd like you to design me a handicapped villain. Handicapped meaning having a condition that significantly restricts one's ability to function physically, mentally, or socially. Think about how old and weak the emperor, Darth Vader's boss, yet so powerful or in M. Knight Shyamalan's Unbreakable you have Mr. Glass opposite of Bruce Willis' character.

Must-haves:
- Design must be head to toe. No Bust.
- Humanoid with a human face. No Creatures/Aliens/etc
- Must resemble an A-list actor.
- Must be lit and exist on/in and implied surrounding with a ground plane. NO WHITE OR FLAT BACKGROUNDS.
- Your villain must have at least one prop i.e. holding a gun or a pet or...
- Your villain must be wearing or covered with at least two different materials i.e. carbon fiber suit and brass fittings. Skin or hair cannot be one of these materials.

DELIVERABLES DUE MAY 9th at 1pm:
1 full color, finished, lit handicapped villain
(no preliminary sketches are required but encouraged)
Label your design with your name/signature, name of character, and date in a corner.

Key Features to think about:
He/She is handicapped. What contrast does that provide towards your villain's motives/goals?

Body Language: What is the inner dialogue of your character and how is that portrayed in his/her posture/pose/etc.

Lighting: How is how your lighting your character help the mood or feeling of your character.

SUGGESTIONS:
If you don't have an concept in mind or can't come with one, use your character for the Mother Nature assignment as a starting point and design his/her antithesis.

As you design your villain come up with a one line design statement that you can use to always keep you on track - i.e. Young farmer boy that is unsure of himself as he struggles to fulfill his destiny to become a Jedi and makes out with his sister.

Name your character. It'll help.

email me anytime if you need feedback or paint-over about your concept or sketches
